About this app

Pick messages from the room (or a whole thread), get an editable draft with a suggested title and every message quoted with its author, local time and a matrix.to link back to the message, then save it as a page in the room's wiki space (XWiki 2.1, or Markdown when the wiki offers the Markdown syntax). An existing page is never overwritten: the widget checks first and offers a free name such as "Protokoll (2)". Unofficial technology demonstration of the openDesk × Matrix widgets integration concept — not a ZenDiS or openDesk product.

What lands in room state. Demo mode (what Marcade hosts) has no real wiki, so each saved page is one state event de.opendesk.xwiki.demo_page (state key <space>/<page name>) containing the title, the full page text (Markdown and the generated XWiki 2.1 syntax — including the quoted messages), the ids of the quoted messages, your Matrix id and the time. Moderators set the room's wiki space as de.opendesk.xwiki ({version: 1, base_url, wiki, space}, no content). Room state is never encrypted, even in an encrypted room, and is replicated to every server in the room — so in demo mode, quoting messages from an encrypted room copies them into unencrypted state; the editor says so before you save. The optional notice with the page link is a normal timeline message and is encrypted like any other.

Working with it. The picker is fully keyboard-driven (arrow keys, Space, Shift+arrow ranges, Ctrl+A). The editor shows a preview and the exact XWiki 2.1 syntax that will be saved, and warns that you are copying other people's words. The "Raum-Wiki" tab lists the room's pages read-only. Only the latest messages your client hands to the widget (about 50) can be picked; older history is out of reach for widgets — except whole threads: in clients that support reading relations (MSC3869, Element Web) "All from this thread" loads every reply of the thread.

Modes. With an opendesk-widget-gateway URL in the widget URL fragment, pages are created in the real XWiki through the gateway with your own XWiki rights (create-only, never overwriting), and only the space pointer stays in room state (the client may ask for permission to share your identity).

Add to a room

Paste this into any room you may configure — Element and most clients understand /addwidget:

/addwidget https://marcade.store/apps/de.minagawa.opendesk.chat-zu-wiki/0.1.0/

Works on its own in demo mode (pages live in room state). Optional: add `gateway=https://…` (an opendesk-widget-gateway) to the widget URL fragment to create real XWiki pages as the signed-in user.

Rooms should pin the versioned URL above. https://marcade.store/apps/de.minagawa.opendesk.chat-zu-wiki/latest/ always points at the newest release.

Name and icon in Element

/addwidget can carry only the URL: Element lists the app as “Custom” without an icon. Add the Marcade Store once per room and it gives every Marcade app pasted in there its name and icon, and tells you when an update is out.

/addwidget https://marcade.store/apps/de.minagawa.marcade-store/0.1.4/
